Guilford County
Guilford County holds Greensboro, most of High Point, Jamestown, Oak Ridge and Summerfield. Warnings come from the National Weather Service office in Raleigh. On September 18, 2026, the Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) measured a 69 mph thunderstorm gust, and limbs came down on I-85 near Colfax, according to NOAA storm reports. An EF-2 tornado crossed east Greensboro in April 2018, a reminder that the Triad gets tornadoes too.

Forsyth County
Forsyth County is anchored by Winston-Salem, with Kernersville and Clemmons. Older neighborhoods such as Buena Vista and West End have large hardwoods. On September 5, 2026, thunderstorm winds put a tree on a house on Bridle Path Road near Clemmons, according to NOAA storm reports.
Towns: Winston-Salem, Kernersville, Clemmons
Alamance County
Alamance County, east of Greensboro along I-40/85, includes Burlington, Graham and Mebane. Many homes in the older mill villages have original or layered roofs, which matter when an adjuster decides between repair and replacement.
Towns: Burlington, Graham, Mebane
Rockingham County
Rockingham County, north of Greensboro on the Virginia line, includes Reidsville, Eden and Madison. Its warnings come from the National Weather Service office in Blacksburg, Virginia, not Raleigh. On September 21, 2026, thunderstorms blew down dozens of trees in the county, including one onto a home on Island Drive in Madison, according to NOAA storm reports.
Towns: Reidsville, Eden
Randolph County
Randolph County, south of Greensboro, includes Asheboro, Archdale and part of High Point. On October 11, 2026, as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias crossed the state, a tree blocked Lassiter Mill Road, and an EF-2 tornado struck the Candor area just south in Montgomery County.
