What this means for homeowners
Tornadoes from tropical systems often form quickly in outer rain bands, with little lead time. If a tree or wind damaged your roof, photograph it before cleanup, cover openings and keep receipts. A named-storm or hurricane deductible applies only when the policy's trigger is met. See wind damage claims and tree on roof.
